Welcome to the Haitian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (HCCJ).
The story of HCCJ is, in many ways, a reflection of my own journey.
For fifteen years and counting, Japan has been my home. During that time, I have had the privilege of studying, building my career, and becoming part of both Japanese and Haitian/ caribbean communities. I first attended Kansai University in Osaka before completing my Bachelor's degree at Waseda University in Tokyo. Today, I am proud to hold Japanese Permanent Resident status, allowing me to continue contributing to the strong and enduring relationship between our two countries.
My commitment to Japan-Haiti relations began long before the Chamber was established. In 2012, I supported the Japanese Contingent of the United Nations Mission in Haiti by providing Japanese, English, and French interpretation and translation and took charge of official coordination with Haitian government ministries. This experience gave me a unique appreciation for the importance of communication, mutual understanding, and trust in international cooperation.
A decade later, in 2022, I was honored to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Ambassador of Haiti to Japan for my contributions to the Haitian community in Japan and my efforts to strengthen cultural and bilateral ties between our two nations. While I deeply appreciate this recognition, I believe the most meaningful work still lies ahead.
Throughout my professional career in retained executive search advisory, and international business, I have worked with global companies, Japanese organizations, and international professionals globally. One lesson has remained constant: successful partnerships are built on trusted relationships. Markets do not grow simply because opportunities exist; they grow because people connect, collaborate, and share a common vision.
That belief inspired the creation of the Haitian Chamber of Commerce in Japan.
Why I founded HCCJ?
After living in Japan for many years, I repeatedly saw genuine interest from Japanese companies, institutions, and professionals in Haiti and the Caribbean. At the same time, I noticed that many opportunities never progressed because there was no dedicated organization focused on building long-term commercial and institutional relationships.
HCCJ was established to become that bridge.
Our mission is to create meaningful connections between Japan, Haiti, and the wider Caribbean by facilitating trade, investment, business partnerships, cultural exchange, and institutional cooperation. We aim to provide companies with a trusted platform through which they can build lasting relationships and explore new opportunities with confidence.
Rather than simply organizing events, we seek to become a long-term partner for organizations interested in expanding their reach and strengthening their presence across the Caribbean.
